Well, OK, this is new!

In Brad Pitt’s upcoming World War II movie, he plays a vengeance-seeking Nazi hunter – and he looks the part.

The first portrait of Pitt’s character, Lt. Aldo Raine, in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (yes, the misspelling is intentional), was released Monday. Clad in tough-looking fighter gear, Pitt portrays the leader of the "Basterds," a group of Jewish-American soldiers who scalp and brutally kill Nazis.

Pitt’s character is described on Tarantino.info as not "your Warner Brothers 1950's WW2 hero … this is a hillbilly straight from the mountains of Tennessee."

So it's not going to be a remake of the 70s Italian pulp movie of (nearly) the same name, Inglorious Bastards?

Wow, I figured that would have been right up Tarantino's alley!  Although judging by that description it will be given the same treatment, with a modern twist no doubt....

I think this is the new Defiance trailer.  Yow.  Looks good in a lot of ways.  Starring 007's Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, and George McKay.  IMDB lists the opening as December 12th.

Synopsis (from IMDB):

Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.

So, St. Anna, Defiance, or Valkyrie?  Still haven't seen St. Anna yet. Yeah, I know, I know....

Ehhhh, I dunno about this one.  Judging from the reviews I've seen so far, I will have to reserve my final judgement until after I get a chance to see it (whenever that may be!)  It sounds like Spike Lee's interjecting a wee bit too much of his politics into the thing, which is unfortunate.  I'll leave it to you as an exercise to find the myriad of reviews out there so far.

The media blitzkrieg for United Artists Valkyrie has begun!  Here's the official synopsis of the film, along with some promo stills, the new trailer, and a featurette about the real Von Stauffenberg.

Click on thru for the whole shebang.  I think it looks like it will be good.  Despite all the naysayers.

This is a curious one, an anime-style series set in Russia during WWII, and featuring such amazing things as undead Nazi samurai on horseback(!) Well, at least its stylistically interesting.... Here's a trailer. I guess I'll have to see it. Not a huge fan of anime, but I'll give it a shot.
