It’s about 71 college students who are told to hold the line against the advancing North Koreans. From the trailer, It looks to have a lot of, um, John Woo-”action movie” styled moments and well... »
Restrepo – Jun. 25th
Again, always the last to know. sigh. Anyway, this looks interesting, can’t wait to get a chance to see it. Probably won’t be til it hits disc but looking forward to it just the same. Guess this means I’ll have to add a new category as well! From IMDB: Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington’s year dug... »
Red Dawn Reboot Causing a Stir
If you haven’t heard by now, MGM is rebooting the 1984 Cold War classic, Red Dawn. Only this time the Soviet Red Menace(tm) is being replaced by the Chinese Red Menace(tm) much to the dismay of many. Just search for it, you’ll see what I mean. I’ll wait. If you recall the original Red Dawn... »

Saving Private Ryan (1998, Blu Ray) Well, its finally happened!! Saving Private Ryan is available on Blu Ray! Awesome! Reader’s Digest WWII in the Pacific Tomorrow brings the release of the Reader’s Digest WWII in the Pacific 6-DVD box set from Questar. Awesome news! Except that there are no concrete details as of yet, including extras or a firm release date… but its still totally excellent news!!! I’m hoping that Spielberg takes full advantage of the format. Lots of extras, maybe some new stuff. Dreaming of a 7.1 Master Audio soundtrack but its pretty unlikely. Link:... »

Inglourious Basterds: A Riff Too Far?
I’ve not seen IB yet, but did come across this bit from Entertainment Weekly. Having not seen it, I really can’t comment very much, except to say… Its Tarantino, what did you expect? See #1 Using the ‘78 IB as a guidepost, again, what did you expect? I just got through (unfortunately) watching Spielberg’s 1979 disappointment “1941.” Its not... »
Inglourious Basterds Trailer
Yeah Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds launches next week, and besides the fact it has nothing at all to do with the 1978 Italian Inglorious Bastards (note the spelling difference) it looks to be at least entertaining. In that oh-so-special Tarantino sort of way. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I’ll reserve final judgement til... »
Defiance Trailer
I *think* this is the new Defiance trailer. Yow. Looks good in a lot of ways. Starring 007’s Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, and George McKay. IMDB lists the opening as December 12th. Synopsis (from IMDB): Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian... »
