Remembering Veterans Day
Today is Veterans Day in the US, and elsewhere. Some of you think of it as just another day when (maybe) you get off work, or at most when the banks are closed and your mail doesn't arrive. (Although its on Sunday this year so probably not.)Veterans Day commemorates the end of World War I, with the German signing of the Armistice which ended the war at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Hence, November 11th.
Take some time from your busy schedule to thank the veterans around you. If nothing else, just whisper a bit of gratitude to them to yourself. For what they've done and seen and experienced, so that we're still able to experience freedom today.
If you're a veteran reading this post, my thanks go out to you. And a big 'stay safe' to our servicemen still in uniform around the world, so we can thank you in person next year.
And if you're interested, TNT is showing Saving Private Ryan tonight. I'm assuming they're doing it right and showing it unedited, although I'm unsure if it'll be commercial free or not....
