We Were Soldiers (2002, Blu Ray)

Well, I think I’ll let my original review of We Were Soldiers stand. Except for the following… Yeah, I guess that is what that part of Vietnam looks like. Sort of. I stand corrected.
And every time I see this movie (a few times since that initial review was posted) I like it less and less. I think it’s because of the (long) section that occurs somewhere in the middle where the combat drones on. and on. and on. With little variance. It’s just “oh look! enemy! BLAM!” over and over and over again with a certain indifference. It just gets, well, old.
As for the Blu Ray, I can’t fault any part of it. The picture and sounds are spectacularly transferred. The signature Huey ‘chop chop’ really hits you here. Although the volume range is rather wide. You’ll find yourself turning it up for the quiet parts and back down again for the thick-of-battle scenes, unless you just turn it up and leave it there!
Anyway, if you’ve already got this on DVD, I don’t see why you’d feel the need to upgrade, unless you really, really like We Were Soldiers. I’m not even going to give a rating here and let my other rating speak for itself. No Change(tm)
