I despise and loathe this movie. I am dreading having to rewatch it as part of my blog project. It is pulp history at its worst. To a historian there are several absolutely laughable scenes. Unfortunately because of this trash, most viewers think Wallace impregnated the princess, the Irish switched sides in the middle of a battle, the Battle of Stirling Bridge had no bridge, and the list goes on. The difference between Spartacus (a movie that was obviously the template for Braveheart - check out the spears playing the role of the flame rollers) and Braveheart is you could fill in the blanks of the Spartacus biography without people like me jumping all over you, but too many facts are known about Wallace to justify the Hollywoodization that takes place.
